ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Scott Woods is a former resident of Ada, Ohio. He relocated to the Southwest in 1981 and settled in Northern Arizona. His home is located in the quaint village of Valle, 23 miles south of the Grand Canyon National Park.
He first became interested in photography as a child when his father, an amateur photographer, gave him a camera and began teaching him about film, lighting, filters and lenses. As Scott matured, his talent and passion for the art form emerged. His intuitive ability evolved as he developed his skill with film and lenses. Photography became an integral part of him and a lifetime aspiration. It came to pass; that the grass roots effort of his father was the defining moment in his life which sealed his destiny as a professional photographer.
Today he commands articulate precision in 35mm, digital and medium formats specializing in Grand Canyon Landscape Photography and Wedding Portraiture. Scott is striving to attain a level of achievement reserved for masters. Prolific in his visionary work, his devotion to excellence is revealed in the caliber of his images. The magnitude of his work reflects his diversity in composition and subject matter.
He treks remote regions of the Southwest, drawn to unbeaten paths searching for fleeting moments of light and shadow. During those forays into the wilderness, he captures elusive images of landscapes and wildlife rarely seen by white eyes.
To his advantage, Scott was mentored for eight years by the late, great landscape photographer; George Lamont Mancuso whom he met in 1994. In the course of his tutelage; George's infinite knowledge inspired an elevated sense of purpose in Scott's work.
Laying the foundation for a future business, Scott established himself as a serious Photographer. In 1999, with his photographs and services in increasingly high demand, he felt he had attained his goal and started a full time photography business. Now an accomplished entrepreneur catering to millions of visitors at the Grand Canyon National Park each year; his work is on display in homes and businesses around the world.
He has been featured in magazine and newspaper publications worldwide. His photographs are used commercially for numerous advertisements, calendars, posters and tour books. He has done extensive work in aerial photography for geographic technology, survey and air tour companies, with client accounts spanning Northern Arizona.
Scott has expanded his business to include an online storefront on the internet. Recently he added family portraiture to his repertoire. For 2008, his wedding photography service area will include the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff and Sedona. Additionally, he is upgrading his web site to include featured talent of the Grand Canyon; an artist, a cowboy poet and possibly a western musician, and will offer their work for purchase.
